Burrito

Hello people

Well I have been on placement almost 3 weeks now, its been challenging but really really good. Because of staff shortages i was thrown in the deep end and did work of more experienced workers. Which was good but a bit scary. Ive learnt alot of how people are seen who have mental difficulties and also have learnt alot about how to interact with them. Been doing jobs like taking them to the shops, cooking meals and even showering a few of them, but also doing more social worky type stuff like looking at care plans, legislation and doing admin stuff such as money handling and checking bank statements. letters etc etc. Sometimes I feel out of my comfort zone with them but guess thats what placement is all about. But jeess some of them are characters and I am enjoying working with them. also learning alot about the political jazz that goes into funding places like this and the impending cuts in the councils budget and the effect it is likely to have on these people which is pretty sad cause they are the ones losing out. speaking of been out my comfort zone i have had to take some of the guys to dance classes and 2 discos, yup i boogied and i must say they all put me to shame.
