hoooowzit
right so i handed in all my essays last Monday, so stoked. was alot of work but its done and dusted....until i get my results.
since then Ive been working a fair bit. did a couple shifts at the parenting assessment place i sometimes work and and did a few nursing shifts. The nursing stuff has been harder than i thought and been thrown in the deep end . because i work for an agency they send you to different places, lots of the places expect you have experience so they just kinda give you a beeper or a walkie talkie then tell you what patients you are looking after. first shift i worked at an older peoples home, was hard work, i had to look after 10 people, that included serving dinner, wiping bums and getting them dressed and in bed, which can be challenging cause most have severe dementia or Alzheimer's, so can be aggressive or just scared. i was knackered after that shift.
next shift i did was at a place where people go once they reach the later stages of multiple sclerosis or Huntington's disease, it was a shame to see people in both places that had lead normal lives then had to be so dependant on been cared for.
did a shift today at the older peoples home and because it wasn't too busy i managed to chat to some of the folk. was really interesting, one guy used to play soccer for Scotland, a woman used to be the baker for the queen. one guy who i chatted to was the last executioner in Scotland, he hung the last guy in the early 80's. was a hectic story cause he said part of his job was to stay with the prisoner 24hrs a day for 2 weeks before the hanging to make sure he didn't commit suicide. he said it was hard cause he got to know the guy. he told me when he did actually hang the guy the rope did not break his neck, so the guy was still breathing, and because law states you cannot hang a man twice he had to friggen strangle the guy with his hands. now if you ever met this guy hes about 5ft, skinny and so quiet and gentle so when he told me this story i almost fell off my chair.
I asked the one old guy at the home what he thought was for lunch, he said "Ifits", I said whats "Ifits", he replied "well 'if its' there ill eat it....'if its' not I wont" .....smart arse haha.
my next shift is on Saturday where ill be working at the place i did my last placement. will be good to see all the folk there.
